This again keeps the drive petrol-like ‘normal’ but it’s a trick missed not coming to a complete stop when off the throttle. Only 452L isn’t much for a medium SUV – a RAV4 offers 580L – and under the floor is just a repair kit, not a spare tyre. Shame there’s no one-pedal driving in town.

The claimed economy figure of 14.1kWh/100km looks optimistic on first drive. As this e-2008 is an EV adapted to the platform of an ICE vehicle (the petrol 2008 SUV), packaging isn’t as smart as a dedicated EV platform’s. Overall economy? Such range will be a sticking point for many, myself included. Nope again.

I spend most of the day driving in GT mode so the economy’s not falling. If you want to keep the tyre mobility kit and power cable bags in the boot, this also eats into space. That said, I stand by my belief I’d be happier with a comfier, rangier EV6 Air and then buy a fun petrol toy with the money saved.

You could buy an EV9 Air, then something like a petrol Kia Cerato hatch as a second car with the money saved. The Air’s standard kit’s hardly wanting. Of course the GT-Line has all the above too, but such decent inclusions in the Air (as you’d expect for $100k+) shows it’s a deeply kitted out car to live with.

based technology will actually achieve any economy in production. It was a Manufacturing Failure, as GM NEVER planned to build the car in Volume, so No Economies of Scale were ever achieved. If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Interesting in any case.
