Volvo Cars China and Shanghai International Automobile City Group—a local government supervision authority— will undertake a demonstration program with two Volvo C30 Electric cars in the community of Jiading outside Shanghai. In June 2011, Volvo Car Corporation started the production of the Volvo C30 Electric.

The policy, which exempts electric cars from hefty daily taxation, is resulting in increasingly significant vehicle choices for English consumers. Mitsubishi could be the first with cars for sale if the UK distributor has its way.

Siemens Corporate Technology , Siemens’ research organization, supplied the drive systems for the prototypes of two electric cars shown at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and a range of 250 km (155 miles), with 320 km (199 miles) possible with an enlarged battery pack.

Volvo Cars and energy company Göteborg Energi signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the area of electrical vehicles and recharge infrastructure. Under the agreement, Volvo will provide 10 Volvo C30 Electric cars ( earlier post ), with delivery starting during this autumn. Ener1’s US battery subsidiary.

Battery cost and size mean that all-electric cars still have a relatively limited operating range. With the Range Extender, the electric car has its effective range increased by a thousand kilometers, yet with carbon dioxide emissions below or way below 50 g/km. Here too the electric motor is a 111 hp (82 kW) unit.
