The US Department of Transportation has awarded a $15-million grant to renew the Center for Connected and Automated Transportation (CCAT), based in Ann Arbor and led by the University of Michigan. Platooning connected and automated freight trucks to reduce traffic delays and wear and tear on roads.

Xcel Energy has released the preliminary results from its wind-to-battery (W2B) storage project in Minnesota, and termed the technology successful. The battery installation is connected to a nearby 11-megawatt wind farm owned by Minwind Energy, LLC. A final report is expected in summer 2011. about 30 miles east of Sioux Falls, S.D.
