BMW i announced a home stationary energy storage system solution integrating its BMW i3 vehicle battery at EVS 29 in Montréal. The concept announced at EVS29 is the first market-ready home storage system using a second-life automotive BMW i3 high-voltage battery integrated by BECK Automation (Würzburg, Germany).

Siemens suggests abandoning a fixed target for renewable energies and concentrating on the CO 2 reduction goal. The BMW Group Technology Office, together with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), have launched an 18-month pilot of the BMW i ChargeForward Program in the San Francisco Bay Area. The study has two parts: (1) a managed charge pilot program involving BMW i3 owners; and (2) a battery second-life energy storage system.

Vattenfall will purchase the new batteries from the BMW plant in Dingolfing and use them in all storage projects. The first energy storage from the BMW-i3 batteries is being built at the 122 MW onshore wind farm “Princess Alexia” near Amsterdam. megawatts (MW), it is Vattenfall’s first large storage project in the Netherlands.
