Solar fuels company Joule teams with DNV GL for commercial validation of CO2-to-fuels production process

Joule has pioneered a CO 2 -to-fuel production platform using engineered bio-catalysts continuously to convert waste CO 2 directly into renewable fuels such as ethanol or hydrocarbons for diesel, jet fuel and gasoline. This cleared the catalyst for commercial use at the company’s demonstration plant in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Audi opens power-to-gas facility in Werlte/Emsland; e-gas from water, green electricity and CO2

It is anticipated that the e-gas from Werlte will power 1,500 new Audi A3 Sportback g-tron vehicles for 15,000 kilometers (9,321 miles) of CO 2 -neutral driving every year. TFSI in the five-door model can burn natural gas, biomethane and Audi e-gas; with its bivalent design it can also use gasoline.

Audi partner Joule announces its CO2-recycled ethanol meets US and Euro specs; $40M financing

These efforts include fuel testing and validation, lifecycle analysis and support for Joule’s production facility in Hobbs, New Mexico, where demonstration-scale production of ethanol is underway. Joule has initiated efforts to use these results to obtain the government approvals needed for commercialization of its ethanol fuel.
