Thereby, we completely forego coal-based electricity and obtain our electrical energy from only renewable sources. Today, new plants in Europe are already planned with a CO2-neutral energy supply from the start. The production hall uses renewable energy and reduces water consumption and waste significantly.

So you can see why I can no longer spend 70 hours a week writing press releases and media advisories, rolling from one conference call to another, and flying from one city to another for media events – no matter how meaningful and satisfying the results were, and no matter how cushy and fun the gig was.

I now travel across the country on a regular basis – when I’m not at my desk at our Manhattan Beach office – roll from one conference call to another on my iPhone, and wear a suit and tie to meetings and events. . In fact I’m writing this on my flight back to L.A. First staff job I’ve had since 1982.

Working with Heidi, cities have been gathering data from Southern California Edison, The Gas Company, waste haulers and other contractors using Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) software, which was developed for specifically compiling this diverse data. At community events Hampel runs a free hands-on bike tune-up workshop.
