Electrify America plans to install 30 electric fleet-dedicated chargers paired with battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the Port of Long Beach, California, as part of Electrify America’s $25-million “Green City” investment in the region at the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

The City of Los Angeles is set to receive more than $200 million in Active Transportation Program (ATP) grants following a vote on Wednesday by the California Transportation Commission (CTC). The CTC awarded ATP Cycle 6 grants to six separate projects within the City of Los Angeles.

Toyota unveiled the second iteration of its hydrogen fuel cell electric Class 8 truck ( earlier post ) during the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) Management Briefing Seminars in Northern Michigan. Our goal with the first truck was to see if it could be accomplished, and we did that.

Today, battery-electric Class 8 tractors still have a higher lifetime cost, due entirely to the initial purchase price of a heavy-duty vehicle with a huge battery (264 kWh for the first-generation VNR Electric). The cost equation is trickier.
