There are other small Chinese EVs such as the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora that compete in this pricing space too, but neither of them offer the same broad range as the MG4. It’s becoming a constant lament but the Chinese brands don’t know how to properly tune lane keeping and driver monitoring systems to be supportive rather than intrusive.

Firstly, it lands the Chinese maker in Australia’s biggest sales segment and, as a plug-in hybrid , it is BYD’s first ICE-powered , CO2-emitting vehicle to go on sale here following the launch of three BEVs since 2022 – the Atto 3 , Dolphin and Shark. The price definitely seems inflated in our opinion. I like how Rajiv responded in a very candid manner, seemed humble and did not mock the fires that are happening unlike what you see with petrol head auto journalists on twitter. From our observations, every EV fire is party time for Petrol head auto journalists.
