The Morgan Motor Company is launching the three-wheeled Morgan EV3 , the company’s first production electric vehicle, at the Geneva Motor Show. Following a soft launch of the Phase 1 EV3 mule vehicle in 2015, Morgan is showcasing the final pre-production phase car with restyled body and interior.

It was one of the first ever electric bike cars to actually reach production. Nearly a thousand of the hand-built three-wheeled electric vehicles were delivered between 2013 and 2019, when an unfortunate bankruptcy seemed to mark a regrettable end to the world’s first production electric bike car. Remember the ELF?

At the Geneva International Motor Show, Volkswagen is showcasing two concept electric scooters to address the need for micromobility solutions: the compact Cityskater, a production-ready surfer for the last mile of a journey, and a larger e-scooter, the Streetmate. Marcelo da Luz and his Power of One solar car ( earlier post ), recently arrived in Los Angeles after traveling more than 12,500 miles. In the process, he reached the Arctic Circle, and broke the world distance record for a solar car. The original plan was to drive the solar car from Buffalo, NY to Inuvik, NT and back to Buffalo, NY.

But whatever it’s called, these three-wheeled taxis have used their half-bike, half-wagon design to shuttle folks around cities for decades. I’m not quite sure how you cram six people into this little thing, unless you’ve got a clown car situation or part of the rear suspension becomes the lap of your riding companion.
