Marine Scientists Issue Monaco Declaration Calling for Immediate Action to Reduce Ocean Acidification

Green Car Congress

Green areas indicate waters supersaturated with aragonite carbonate and favoring shell formation, with darker color indicating more favorable conditions. Red areas are those where waters are under-saturated in aragonite and so hostile to shell formation by marine organisms, with darker color indicating greater under-saturation.

Study Finds Doubling of Atmospheric CO2 from Pre-Industrial Levels Could Result in Dissolution of Coral Reefs

Green Car Congress

Researchers at the Carnegie Institution at Stanford University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem warn that if atmospheric carbon dioxide reaches double pre-industrial levels, coral reefs can be expected to not just stop growing, but also to begin dissolving. Coral reefs are unlikely to survive in regions colored yellow, orange, or red.

Study Finds Ozone, Nitrogen Change the Way Rising CO2 Affects Earths Water

Green Car Congress

Through a recent modeling experiment, a team of NASA-funded researchers have found that future concentrations of carbon dioxide and ozone in the atmosphere and of nitrogen in the soil are likely to have an important but overlooked effect on the cycling of water from sky to land to waterways. Study finds plausibly high volumes of Canadian oil sands crudes in US refineries in 2025 would lead to modest increases in refinery CO2 emissions

Green Car Congress

The refinery CO 2 accounting uses standard, published carbon intensity factors for the various refinery fuels.some observers assume that the US crude oil slate is set to shift precipitously and completely to heavy, high-sulfur crudes, and they assert that this shift would lead to steep increases in refinery energy use and CO 2 emissions.
