As the car industry’s largest hybrid pusher, Toyota says it is better positioned to just buy credits to close the EPA gap rather than “waste” money on BEVs, its CEO said. The brand has been a huge champion of hybrids all along, and sells just one EV for each of its two US brands, the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus RZ450e crossovers.

Common examples of hybrid cars are: the Honda Accord Hybrid, the Lexus RX 450h and the Toyota Prius. More expensive to buy. So hybrid electric cars are a good choice for some drivers who want to try an electric car but prefer to drive in a way almost identical to a conventional fuel car drive. Difficult for renters to manage charging.

I used my solar-panel-powered Level 2 (240V) home charger, but if you’re on the road and want to top off quickly, DC fast charging at 150 kilowatts takes about 40 minutes to get you to 80 percent. Ones to watch include the upcoming BMW i4 and recently announced Kia EV6, but you can’t buy one of those yet. Charging and Efficiency.
