Work on a research project developing an actively coupled ultracapacitor-battery system targeted at plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) applications is attracting interest from a variety of OEMs both at a component and a system level, according to Argonne’s Ted Bohn, in his presentation at the Department of Energy Merit Review this week.

"GM tries to unplug Volt hype" is not the headline I've been hoping to see out of Motor City this spring. GM continues to spread the gospel of the Volt. Interest in plug-in cars of all sorts is real and growing. took an image beating when it backed away from a pledge to put 250,000 hybrids on the road by 2010.

The Saturn version of the two-mode plug-in hybrid at the Milford Proving Grounds. On 11 August, GM invited approximately 75 journalists and auto analysts to spend a day learning about the new GM. GM also gave a tour of the pre-production area where we could see production-intent Chevy Volts being assembled.
