Charging station owners or operators are required to remit the tax monthly using prescribed forms provided by the Oklahoma Tax Commission. In Pennsylvania , there is an existing alternative fuel tax in effect. The Department of Revenue may grant dealer-users permission to report annually, subject to specified criteria.

Commercial trailers are produced by a separate group of manufacturers that are not associated with truck manufacturers. Trailers, an important opportunity for fuel consumption reduction, can benefit from improvements in aerodynamics and tires. Regulators will need to take the limitations of these smaller companies into account.
