Volvo plans to do that with the upcoming EX90 EV, but it appears the advanced sensor array could be causing delays. Volvo said it delayed the EX90 to mid-2024 to sort out issues with the LiDAR system’s software. Volvo CEO Jim Rowan said the delay could extend to five or six months, thanks to the “complexity of the software code.”

The Volvo EX30 was on the list until yesterday when NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert notified the group that the automaker had requested its new electric SUV be removed from the running because it won’t arrive until deep into 2024. A Volvo spokesperson confirmed the move, saying that the company wants to be “fully transparent.”
