GECF: more than a quarter of 2050 natural gas supply untapped

Yet-to-find (YTF) resources will contribute to around 30% of the total production of natural gas worldwide by 2050, according to Yury Sentyurin, the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). It will see production rise across all regions of the world, with the exception of Europe, where it will decline by 70% by 2050.

BP and Maersk collaborating to develop next-generation offshore drilling rigs for Project 20K

The agreement is part of BP’s Project 20K, a multi-year initiative to develop next-generation systems and tools for deepwater exploration and production that are beyond the reach of today’s technology. BP also sees potential applications for the technology in Egypt, Azerbaijan and other deepwater basins around the world.

EIA Estimates 2.1% Growth in Fossil Fuel CO2 Emissions in US in 2010; Still Below 1999-2008 Levels

This growth is the result of an expected recovery in the global economy, with world gross domestic product (GDP, on an oil-weighted basis) assumed to rise by more than 3 percent per year. Non-OPEC supplies are then expected to fall slightly in 2011, as declining production in mature areas more than offsets any new production growth.
