Electrify America’s ultra-fast charging network now offers Plug&Charge payment technology, which allows electric vehicle (EV) owners to begin a charge without reaching for their wallet, smartphone or bank card. After a brief online registration, drivers can automatically pay for charging by simply plugging in their EV.

The light-duty diesel segment is led by three models: the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, and Ford F-150. More than 40 diesel models are available today in the United States from 10 manufacturers and brands. The F-150 diesel is new for 2018; sales represented approximately 5% of total F-150 sales.

Ford Motor Company and Microsoft Corp. announced at the New York International Auto Show that they are teaming up to implement the Microsoft Hohm energy management application for Ford’s electric vehicles. Ford is the first automaker to announce the planned use of Hohm, starting with the Focus Electric next year.

For nearly 10 years, Magna has been supporting customers in the US and Europe from concept to production with products for battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Additionally since 2012 Magna has supplied Volvo with the electrified rear axle drive system (eRAD) featured on the Volvo V60 and S60 plug-in hybrid models.

The study found that of the roughly 100,000 charging points available today, 76% are concentrated in just four countries (the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK). Electrically-chargeable vehicles (ECVs)—battery-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles—accounted for 1.5% of total EU car sales in 2017.
