Ford has produced its 150,000 th Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle since starting production nearly two years ago, a significant milestone as the company scales EV production to a rate of 600,000 annually by late 2023 and more than 2 million annually by 2026.

Ford Motor Company and Rio Tinto have signed a non-binding global memorandum of understanding (MOU) jointly to develop more sustainable and secure supply chains for battery and low-carbon materials to be used in Ford vehicles. Ford announced a series of initiatives for sourcing battery capacity and raw materials that light a clear path to reach its targeted annual run rate of 600,000 electric vehicles by late 2023 and more than 2 million by the end of 2026. Ford announced that Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., 150,000 F-150 Lightnings for North America.

The company, which supplies batteries to automakers including Ford, Hyundai and Volkswagen, currently operates seven factories in the United States, Hungary, China and South Korea and is currently in construction of seven more plants.
