Flash Drive: 2023 Toyota Prius Prime PHEV Plug-in Hybrid Technology in an All-New Package Toyota is taking the lead suggesting how you should drive a plug-in hybrid. The all-new 2023 Prius Prime gets two less miles per gallon in hybrid mode than the 2022 model, but the all-electric driving range has increased substantially.

They found that hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles (especially electric cars) easily saved their owners money when looking at the purchase price, fuel costs and regular maintenance. Ultimately, lifetime fuel cost savings come down to vehicle use, charging location, charging behavior and the prices of charging equipment.

We project that electric vehicles will save the city $110,000 per year in reduced fuel and maintenance, costs that we would otherwise have to spend on gas-powered vehicles. In 2010, the city converted 15 Toyota Prius hybrids to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

The point we make is that it is not just about fuel. Buyers also need to consider costs such as maintenance and resale value. the Ford Escape Hybrid is compared against the conventional, gasoline-fueled Ford Escape. Alternative-fuel vehicles provide a strong hedge against a jump in fuel prices.

High emitters occur as a result of breakage, mal-maintenance (performance modifications, rechipping, and/or after-treatment removal), and at end of a vehicle’s useful life. Livery fleets have changed significantly in the past decade, with many city fleets now featuring large numbers of hybrid and alternatively fueled vehicles.
