Now that the 2011 Nissan Leaf and 2011 Chevy Volt have reached showrooms--a handful of them, anyhow--a new crop of electric vehicles will launch into the market for 2011. One of those may be the e6 all-electric crossover built by Chinese manufacturer BYD.

Daimler AG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BYD Company Limited to enter into a comprehensive technology partnership for the development of electric vehicles for China. Under the agreement, Daimler and BYD intend to develop a new electric vehicle specific to the requirements of the Chinese market.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been vocal about his awe for the Chinese language electrical car producers. Musk believes that BYD’s vehicles at the moment are extremely aggressive, as he has written in one in all his tweets. Their vehicles are extremely aggressive at the present time.

BYD, the China-based battery and automaker, will supply lithium-ion batteries to one of China’s top three auto groups for applications in hybrid vehicles.
