Facing multi-billion dollar annual losses from its electric vehicle product roll-out, Ford has revealed it is going to build its own ground-up smaller and cheaper EVs to tackle the Tesla Model 2 and Chinese brands head-on. In Australia that charge is led by the MG4, BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora. It is expected to underpin multiple vehicles.

The company is currently focusing on plans to plug the gap between the current market and a future when electric cars hit the mainstream, by converting Lotus Elises and Volkswagen (VW) Golfs to electric power. When theyre ready, they will be sold to companies who want to be seen promoting green technology. A deal should be possible.
