Provisional agreement reached on European CO2 standards for heavy-duty trucks; 30% lower by 2030

The European Parliament and the Council have reached provisional agreement on a regulation setting, for the first time in the EU, strict CO 2 emission standards for trucks. The deal follows an agreement reached in December on new CO 2 emission standards for cars and light vans in the EU for the period after 2020.

They include: Clean Cars 4 All provides up to $9,500 to low-income drivers who scrap their older vehicles and want to purchase something that runs cleaner. LEV IV also reduces the US06 PM standard from 6 mg.mike to 3 mg/mile.

California Air Resources Board readopts Low Carbon Fuel Standard, adopts regulation on alternative diesel fuels

The Air Resources Board re-adopted a Low Carbon Fuel Standard ( LCFS ), which requires a 10% reduction by 2020 in the carbon intensity of transportation fuels. The regulation puts in place a three-step process beginning in 2016 to create a path to bring cleaner diesel substitutes into the market. 2020 and beyond.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has renewed calls for scrapping the most polluting diesel cars and giving drivers cash incentives to switch to cleaner vehicles as part of the evidence he gave to the Environmental Audit Committee today. There are also proposals to tighten the standards for the London-wide Low Emission Zone from 2025.

Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Ian Bowles has set the statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions limit for 2020 required by the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008 at 25% below 1990 levels, the maximum authorized by the Act, saying that measures already in place will get Massachusetts much of the way toward that goal.
