2024 Cadillac Lyriq Sport trim (Source: Cadillac) General Motors is banking that Europeans will want an American-made $93,000 SUV that has zero emissions – but the US brand has had plenty of trouble getting production off the ground on its home turf. Last year, Cadillac delivered 9,000 Lyriqs, with fewer than 2,400 in the first half.

With more new models, the expansion of its local manufacturing capability and a growing dealer network, GM expects to increase Cadillac sales from 30,000 units last year to 100,000 units in 2015. Its longer-term goal is to take Cadillac’s share of China’s luxury car market to 10% by 2020.

In July, GM issued a warning to 2017-2019 model year Chevrolet Bolt EV owners, stating a potential risk of fires had been reported after some owners had reported their vehicles had spontaneously blazed. All recalled vehicles on dealer lots will need to have battery packs replaced before they can be sold or returned to customers.

GM announced that late in 2016 it will add a fleet of 2017 Chevrolet Volts designed to drive autonomously within its renovated Warren Technical Center campus. GM has been testing its “Super Cruise” autonomous driving technology since 2012, and confirmed today the feature will be available in the 2017 Cadillac CT6. eBike Concept.
