The federal Clean Air Act and associated environmental regulations have driven steep declines in air pollution emissions over the past several decades, even as US manufacturers increased production, according to a study by two University of California, Berkeley, economists.

The Government has set up a Biodiesel Grants Scheme, under which New Zealand biodiesel manufacturers can obtain subsidies on a per liter basis. The NZ Biodiesel Grants Scheme applies only to FME biodiesel. The majority of this would be high-quality diesel, enough for 10% of New Zealand’s 2008 diesel consumption.
