Toyota to Stay with NiMH for Mass-Market Hybrids

Toyota Motor Corporation will continue to use NimH packs for most of its hybrid vehicles after three years of testing Priuses fitted with Li-ion packs. Toyota last month ended road tests of 126 Priuses in the US, Japan and Europe that began in 2006, company spokeswoman Jana Hartline said in an interview.

Fuso develops heavy-duty hybrid truck; 10% increase in fuel economy compared to conventional diesels

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Fuso, a member of the Daimler group, has introduced a heavy-duty hybrid truck in Japan. First tests of the “Super Great HEV” have shown about a 10% improvement in fuel economy over conventional diesel-only vehicles. The parallel hybrid system ensures that energy loss is minimised.
