The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to make it easier for manufacturers to gain approval to sell fuel conversion systems. The proposed rule would cover conversions of light-duty vehicles and heavy-duty highway vehicles and engines, and would apply to all clean alternative fuels. Vehicle/Engine Age. Applicability.

The Touareg R can be driven at up to 140 km/h using electric power; above this speed, the turbocharged V6 gasoline engine (TSI) supplements the electric drive motor. The Touareg R will cover most commuter distances fully electrically. The V6 TSI engine delivers a power output of 250 kW (340 PS).

(We That means we’ll be powering some miles with increasingly renewable electricity that isn't made from imported oil. Using existing technology, we can convert many of them into plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. We can upgrade vehicles too.

But when you do, your car essentially becomes an electric vehicle with a gas-tank backup. Lifetime service costs are lower for a vehicle that is mainly electric. Scientist have confirmed that unlike gasoline cars, plug-ins will get cleaner as they get older -- because our power grid is getting cleaner.
