The California Air Resources Board (CARB) announced up to $205 million in grants for projects designed to accelerate the adoption of clean freight technologies and reduce air pollution caused by the movement of goods throughout the state. The digesters will use the waste to produce biomethane to be converted into renewable compressed natural gas fuel. The project will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting food waste from landfills that release methane gas directly into the atmosphere. in Oakland (Alameda County), will receive a total of $680,000.

The California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) approved four regional planning grants to prepare for electric vehicles. These areas of the state are expected to experience heavy electric vehicle use within the next ten years.
