Mercedes-Benz Cars is expanding its production capacities for electric cars in Europe. The Hambach plant in France, which currently produces smart brand electric vehicles, will produce a compact electric car of the new product and technology brand EQ. Production of the EQC, a fully-electric SUV, will start in 2019.

Mercedes-Benz announced in July that it will be ready to go fully electric by the end of the decade wherever market conditions allow. ACC will therefore primarily use electricity from renewable energies for the production of high-performance battery technologies.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance will provide a fleet of 200 all-electric vehicles as the official passenger-car provider for the United Nation’s COP21 climate conference in Paris later this year. The fully electric car fleet will shuttle delegates during the event from 30 November to 11 December.
