Maven is now offering its first all-electric fleet of cars for use in the gig economy; 20 Chevrolet Bolt EVs are available for freelance drivers in Austin, Texas to earn money on their own schedules. The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. Hertz believes it has one of the most fuel-efficient rental fleets in the industry.

The Freightliner eM2, made at Daimler Truck North America’s factory in Portland, Oregon, is being distributed to customers across the US. Latham, New York-based PITT OHIO is the first company to deploy Daimler’s eM2 – it’s added two of the Class 7 electric trucks to its fleet. You can read more about his first drive experience here.

Fleets don’t want to go electric at scale until they’ve done years-long pilots, but the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation will artificially constrict that timeframe. He later served as Transportation Electrification Manager at Portland General Electric, so he’s worked both sides of the electric fence. Soon they won’t have a choice.
