Propulsion equipment was housed in the back of the vehicle along with three lead-acid batteries and five buoyancy spheres, which controlled its vertical movement. These are 68 lb lead acid batteries @ $109 each (I lucked out with no core charge and free delivery), you do the math. The thing that escaped my planning was in planning for the holes in the iron to match up with the hold downs for the batteries. s in the truck. I placed 4 in the front compartment and the other 16 in the bed.

Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. The easiest conversions are for 2004-2008 Prius (not 2001-2003 Prius) and the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrid. Both Toyota and Ford are now producing a few prototype conversions of their own Priuses and Escapes for research purposes.)

He served as the chief engineer for the Ford Escape Hybrid from 1998 to 2003 and holds 12 patents. Back in ’98 when I was trying to decide on the Escape, I deliberately ruled out Li-ion because there were too many issues and you don’t want to have even on instance of what happened with the laptops, but those issues have been addressed.
