Allianz Capital Partners, on behalf of Allianz insurance companies, has signed an agreement to acquire a minority stake in Ren-Gas Oy , a green hydrogen and power-to-gas project developer based in Finland. Allianz will provide funding of €25 million to Ren-Gas to support the company’s project portfolio towards execution.

The plant is to be built by Koppö Energia Oy, a joint venture company between Germany’s Prime Green Energy Infrastructure Fund and CPC Finland Oy, in Kristinestad, Finland. It will have a capacity of 200 MW and will convert green electricity into hydrogen and sustainable LSM. The FEED will be booked by Wärtsilä in Q3, 2023.

The plant, with a total input capacity of 200 MW, will be built in Kristinestad, Finland for the production of green hydrogen and synthetic natural gas (SNG). BASF will build a new battery materials production site in Schwarzheide, Germany, as part of its multi-step investment plan to support the European electric vehicle (EV) value chain. The plant in Schwarzheide will use precursors (PCAM) from BASF’s previously announced plant in Harjavalta, Finland.

Preem, the largest fuel company in Sweden, and Vattenfall have concluded an agreement to investigate the potential Vattenfall’s providing of hydrogen gas in the large scale production of biofuel for the Swedish market. Vattenfall can provide hydrogen gas required for the production of drop-in biofuels.
