Korean siblings Hyundai and Kia will aggressively increase production of electric cars next year, according to a report in the Korean press. The production increase comes amid the combined automaker's goal to become the second largest maker of green vehicles (hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric cars) by 2020.

The government of Ontario (Canada) is targeting a vehicle parc with one out of every 20 vehicles (5%) having electric drive by the year 2020 ( “1 in 20 by 2020” ). Electric vehicles are the way to go in Ontario. The government will also provide Green Vehicle Licence Plates for plug-in vehicles.

The Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has announced several measures to help reach the target including rebates ranging from C$4,000 to C$10,000 for plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles that are bought after July 1, 2010. The government is also likely to provide Green Vehicle License Plates for plug-in vehicles.
