At its monthly meeting in Detroit today, the General Motors Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Fritz Henderson as Director, President and CEO of the company, according to GM Chairman Ed Whitacre. Tags: Brief. With these new duties, I will begin working in the Renaissance Center headquarters on a daily basis.

In short, we had a great final shoot in Detroit. Robotic body and frame welding, magnetic delivery systems for motor/engine marriage to the carriage, dashboard installation by hand, battery pack installation by dolly, tires being torqued into position by wrench jockeys… it was a glorious sight. 1 Cadillac SRX to every 6 Volts.

Describing himself as anti-tax but pro-carbon tax, Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk risked the backlash of US motorists by declaring that petrol should probably cost $10 a gallon. Global company, heavy manufacturing, heavily unionized work environment, their brand is strong, we had a chance to benchmark them.

Chryslers first electric car, set to be introduced late next year around the same time as General Motors Chevrolet Volt, will be a sports car with a zero-to-60 time of under five seconds and a top speed of 120 miles per hour. Power will come from a 200 kilowatt, or 268 horsepower, electric motor.

We can now say with confidence that it is worth waiting 70+ days to make the shift to the left side of the car, following a brief spin around Cobo Hall in a prototype vehicle during the SAE World Congress here in Detroit. The car is noisy, with the hum of the electric motor omnipresent when youre not at a standstill. Small size.

Thats the beauty of the 2010 Aptera 2e electric vehicle — you can speed away from the scene and the cops wont know it, with just a quiet hum as the electric motor winds up and a feeling of satisfaction as the torque presses you deep into the seatback. Tags: evdriven. But dont call the Aptera a car.
