Toshiba Corporation has received an order to supply a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) for a power frequency regulation project in Hamilton, Ohio. The project was launched as a new measure against frequency changes caused by power output fluctuations. The BESS started operation in January this year.

The US Department of Energy announced $35 million in awards for 12 projects that find new ways to harness medium-voltage electricity for applications in industry, transportation, on the grid and beyond. The breaker is designed to protect MVDC systems from electrical faults and expected to respond in 500 microseconds.

An intelligent vehicle-to-grid communications and control system for its plug-in hybrid electric vehicles that “talks” directly with the nation’s electric grid has been unveiled today courtesy of carmaker, Ford. The first of the specially equipped plug-in hybrids has been delivered to American Electric Power of Columbus, Ohio.
