But Europe’s embraced EVs faster and more enthusiastically than we Aussies, so surely the charging infrastructure is more commonplace, reliable, cheaper and efficient? A stuck charging cable. It shares an all-new platform with the purely petrol Outlander version. litre combustion petrol engine allied with twin electric motors, a 20kWh lithium-ion battery pack and all-wheel-drive. For a plug-in hybrid it is, but those prices are some $15,000 more than the equivalent Outlander petrol versions. Is it good value?

That battery takes up to 85kW charge rate at a public DC charger, meaning 0-80 percent’s possible in 35 minutes. It’s included as standard and replicates the sound of an Abarth petrol engine through the brand’s signature Record Monza exhaust. Range is a very city-specific 253 to 265km (WLTP).

A better-equipped all-wheel-drive’s $74,900 plus charges, so you’re looking at around $70,000 and $79,000 respectively to drive-away. Perhaps predictably, the BZ4X is pragmatism personified.
