Taxi Medallion Management in Chicago has purchased 12 Ford Transit Connect Taxis running on compressed natural gas (CNG) for its fleet. The purchase is part of the company’s goal of reducing emissions by 25%, said Michael Levine, CEO of Taxi Medallion Management. The taxis have a 39-foot turning radius.

The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. Though a goal of 100% electric vehicles by 2030 has been set, most industry experts believe that is too ambitious but, a conversion rate of 40-45% by 2030 is a realistic goal. . This was mainly because of few charging spaces, a bigger price tag, insufficient battery promise, low performance and an immature charging environment.
