The EV press has covered GM’s problems with its new Ultium vehicles in great detail, so now that the company has its new Chevrolet Blazer EV back on the market, it’s only fair that we report on how the company overcame the software issues that forced it to pause sales.

A partial draft checklist of stakeholders and enablers to help guide cities in making their regions plug-in friendly suggested by GM includes: Draft Checklist for a Plug-in Ready City. GM will undertake similar efforts around the country in communities such as Washington, D.C.

This past week was certainly quite a whirlwind of EV news and developments from Volvo’s plans to end production of ICE vehicles by 2030, yet another proposal to reform the federal EV tax credit, chip shortages, Washington state’s plans to ban ICE vehicles by 2030, Lucid Air delay, Fisker to partner with Foxconn, and much, much more.

The good news about the list of EV and PHEV sales from last year is there were 86 models listed, though several were cars that have gone out of production (like my Chevy Volt) but still managed to have a few laggards left for sale. Tesla and GM both exceeded the state’s 200,000-unit sales cap on rebates.

One of the proposed changes to the federal EV tax credit that has flown a bit under the radar is also one of the most political and protectionist in nature. Effective January 1, 2022, electric vehicles with final assembly* (see definition at the end) in China would no longer qualify for IRC 30D (federal EV tax credit).
