Envidity launches $1B UCG-GTL project in Mongolia

announced the commitment of funds to launch a US$1-billion underground coal gasification gas-to-liquids (UCG-GTL) project in Mongolia. Prime Minister Batbold asked me in March 2010 during a meeting in Ulaanbaatar to help bring this kind of project to Mongolia. This is a key strategic project for Mongolia. —Wesley Clark.

Inner Mongolia is very rich in wind energy resources, and Mintal Hydrogen estimates that the areas wind resources has the potential of being developed into a total output capacity of 150 gigawatt.

Following operational testing, Canadian Pacific Railway Limited will equip 200 locomotives with GE Transportation’s Trip Optimizer fuel savings system in the product’s first commercial deployment. The system calculates a fuel optimal speed profile for the trip and then automatically controls the throttle to maintain that planned speed.
