With two Electric cars, at the time a Nissan Lean and Mitsubishi Outlander, we use a considerable amount of electricity but not much petrol, so already we were a reasonable way down the less CO2 road. Your power comes from the grid as 240 Volts AC. On a sunny day the rate of battery usage slows and extend the off grid hours. .

Once weve consolidated everything to depend on the grid, we can clean up everything by cleaning up the grid. Once electric cars are more common, demand for electricity will rise, and electricity producers will have to look at big generators such as dams, nuclear stations or decentralised wind turbines that feed in to the grid.

A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Generating electricity from wind and geothermal rather than a CO2 producing sources would help alleviate that problem. The intolerable act is to pretend that making cars into plug-ins will reduce CO2.
