The systems will autonomously charge part of the electric yard tractor fleet of SSA Marine at the International Container Terminal at the Port of Oakland. Last year we opened our first office in North America in Portland, Ore. We look forward to enabling SSA Marine to expand the electrification of their fleets in a scalable way.

Since then, LTD hired a Sustainability Program Manager and conducted carbon footprint analysis of its operations to measure the impacts and benefits of public transit on climate change. In assessing its transition to sustainable mobility, LTD employed a partnership with the University of Oregon (UO) to study opportunities and challenges.

Several utilities in California—LADWP, PG&E, SDG&E and SCE—have programs aimed at supporting the adoption of electric trucks, but more support will be needed to reach electrification levels identified in the study and to meet state climate goals.

Led by Portland State University’s Donald Truxillo and John MacArthur, the project was one of the OTREC “Small Starts” grant winners announced earlier this month. ODOT’s effort, rather than concentrating on individual drivers, focuses on entities with a fleet of vehicles at their disposal.

The small hybrid buses will operate with at least nine fleets in varying climates, geographies and duty cycles, and their performance will be demonstrated in chassis dynamometer and field testing. The HTUF program benefits from the participation of more than 80 fleets representing roughly one million trucks and buses.
