The Renault-Nissan Alliance is installing 90 new charge spots for electric vehicles in and around Paris for the COP21 global summit on climate change. The French power grid distributes electricity with a very low average of CO 2 emissions per kWh: less than 40 g in 2014, compared to the European average of 325 g of CO 2 emissions per kWh.

The Audi e-gas plant in the city of Werlte in Lower Saxony ( earlier post ) produces CO 2 neutral-fuel (synthetic methane from water, renewable electricity and CO 2 ); it now also contributes toward stabilizing the public power grid. This therefore considerably increases the overall efficiency of the Power-to-Gas/biogas plant.

Audi will supply three sources of green energy in the scope of the e-gas project: electricity, hydrogen and methane gas. The e-gas project consists of two main components: Audi is contributing to the construction of offshore North Sea wind turbines which will generate clean power,that is then fed into the public power grid.
