The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to further decrease NO x emissions from on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines. This action follows petitions for a rulemaking on this issue from more than 20 organizations including state and local air agencies from across the country.

The US EPA issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) for the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI). This action follows on the petitions from more than 20 organizations, including state and local air agencies, to revise and promulgate more stringent NO x standards. From 2007 to 2017, US NO x emissions dropped by more than 40%.

These products contain organic solvents, which lead to substantial emissions of VOCs to the atmosphere.
