Since the Clean Car Discount was introduced, EV and hybrids have grown to over a third of new registrations, already saving the country over $100m a year in fuel. The vehicles already registered will save two million tonnes of greenhouse emissions over the lifetime of those vehicles.

Full electrics grew slightly whilst plugin hybrids shrank. The UK auto market saw plugin electric vehicles (EVs) take 20.0% share of new sales in January, flat from 20.4% year on year. Overall auto volume was 131,994 units, up some 15% YoY, but still 21% below pre-2020 seasonal norms.

Full electrics grew share, while plugin hybrids declined. Plugin electric vehicles took 22.4% share of the UK auto market in September, up from 21.6% year-on-year. Overall auto volumes were 225,269 units, up 4.6% from a year ago, but down 34.4% from September 2019. The Tesla Model Y was the best selling all electric.
