Chinese automaker Chery is planning to make cars in Spain, where the EV market is at just 12%, half that of Portugal and France. This would be Chery’s first manufacturing site in Europe. Given the slow uptake of electric vehicles in Spain, Chery says it plans to make combustion engine, hybrid, and electric vehicles there.

The Wuling Bingo was launched on March 29 in China with a starting price of 59.800 yuan (7.887 euros) and had 522 units delivered in March and 16.383 units in April. Chery is already the biggest exporter of Chinese passenger cars and a small global electric car powered by a sodium-ion battery will help to reinforce its position.

Changan Auto and Chery Auto – both of which have partnered with Huawei in developing their premium electric vehicle (EV) brands – have lodged complaints and are in talks to resolve the issue, two of the people said. Huawei, Chery and Seres did not respond to Reuters requests for comment. The S7 is priced from 249,800 yuan.
