In a talk at the opening plenary of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) conference in Washington, DC, former New York Governor George Pataki called for a 40% market penetration of electric drive vehicles in the US by the end of the decade. Gasoline is too cheap. Pataki suggested some approaches: Autos.

The conference was sold out; it was also essentially a PowerPoint-free zone; the basic format relied heavily on brief introductory remarks from sets of speakers representing the diverse stakeholders, followed by questions from attendees. Electricity is a cheap entity—not a commodity, but is its fundamentally very cheap.

Too bad for America our corporations long ago outsourced that kind of effort and heart. But at least Ford didn’t just shamelessly stiff all their creditors through the scam of corporate bankruptcy like the FAIL crews at GM and Chrysler did. And the Greenius says this looks like the smart money bet to me.

In short, I’d bet that any decent university or corporate robotics lab with a similar budget and an active PR team would be able to pull this off. Green Car Congress attended the Renewable Energy Finance Forum - Wall Street (REFF-Wall Street) conference (23-24 June) sponsored by Euromoney Energy Events and the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). Although not part of the conferences formal structure, the themes were addressed in the presentations and panel discussions.
