Ford’s new plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) Transit Custom van ( earlier post ) made its debut at the Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle 2017 event in Millbrook, UK. The vehicle makes its first appearance as Ford prepares 20 PHEV Transits for the 12-month fleet customer trial in London that begins in late 2017.

Eight new low carbon vehicle projects will receive a share of £25 million (US$41 million) of funding from the UK’s Technology Strategy Board Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator to run ‘real-life’ trials. The majority of the vehicles are electric, with a small number being plug-in gasoline-electric hybrids.

Royal Mail has signed an agreement with Peugeot to purchase 100 Partner L2 Electric vans, to be used as delivery vehicles. The Partner L2 Electric was launched in February; this is the first major fleet order for the van. The Partner L2 Electric will carry a gross payload of 552 kg (1,217 lbs). At the Manhattan stop on its year-long “Born Electric” World Tour, BMW i featured the BMW i8 Concept Roadster—shown for the first time in North America—and the BMW i3 Concept. The eDrive system for the battery-electric i3 features an electric motor that develops 125 kW/170 hp with peak torque of 250 N·m.
