A new study by a team from Aarhus University in Denmark has found that car dealerships pose a significant barrier to electric vehicle adoption at the point of sale due to a perceived lack of business case viability in relation to gasoline and diesel vehicles. Their study is published in the journal Nature.

In terms of the global market, in 2012 around 14% of all heavy commercial vehicles were registered in the US and Canada. By comparison, in the European Union, the average number of vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants is approximately 500. In general, because of the import restrictions and taxes, vehicles are very expensive in Brazil.

MMTCO 2 e emissions would be equivalent to GHG emissions from approximately 300,000 passenger vehicles operating for 1 year, or 71,928 homes using electricity for 1 year.
