The reality is that households that can afford to purchase or lease a $75,000 vehicle don’t need a tax credit enable them to buy the vehicle. The current tax credit has a base of $2,500 and is replaced with a new $4,000 base credit as long as the EV has a battery of at least 10 kWh and can be plugged in and recharged.

Underneath the e-fuels banner, Audi also includes renewable electricity for recharging its e-tron vehicles (“e-power”) and, should the market so require it, “green” hydrogen (e-hydrogen, derived in the e-gas process). Audi operates a research facility in Hobbs, New Mexico for the production of e-ethanol and e-diesel in partnership with Joule.

Since our cars and trucks use almost two-thirds of the oil we buy, the quickest way to cut oil use is to free transportation from its grip. We won’t need new power plants, since we have enough off-peak electricity to recharge as many retrofits as we can build. Over time, we can conserve by reducing the miles we drive.
