Following initial contracts with European suppliers, the BMW Group has now concluded further 2 -reduced-steel-for-global-production-network">agreements for the supply of CO 2 -reduced steel in the US and China. Steel is one of the main sources of CO 2 emissions in our supply chain.

To support its accelerated expansion of e-mobility in the coming years, the BMW Group will source lithium from a second leading supplier, US-based Livent. Livent will supply the lithium directly to the BMW Group’s battery cell manufacturers from 2022 on. The value of the multi-year contract will total around €285 million.

As part of its electromobility expansion, the BMW Group is deepening its existing business relationship with Ganfeng Lithium based in Jiangxi (China). The two companies have signed a 5-year (2020 - 2024) supply contract for the lithium needed as a key raw material for battery cells. The projected order volume totals €540 million.
