Toyota: Prius PHEV Fuel Economy Not Yet Available

In a post on Toyota’s Open Road blog, Irv Miller, Toyota Group Vice President – Environmental and Public Affairs, wrote that contrary to some recent reports, Toyota has yet to offer mileage estimates on its plug-in hybrid technology. Toyota’s current plug-ins are: being used for auto show displays, brief demonstrations and university studies.

Its 42-mile EV range, its 600-mile total range and relatively low price tag have made the PHEV an instant smash hit. The obvious next step after creating a popular RAV4 PHEV would be stepping up to an all-electric version. Toyota has designed the PHEV to be VERY inexpensive to maintain. Demand is intense. Time will tell.
