ASTM International launches group to create standards for recovered carbon black (rCB)

The ASTM International Board of Directors approved the launch of a new technical committee dedicated to developing standards for the growing field of recovered carbon black (rCB). Carbon black is used as a reinforcing additive in rubber products—notably tires—where tensile and abrasion wear properties are critical.

Stanford’s GCEP awards $10.5M for research on renewable energy; solar cells, batteries, renewable fuels and bioenergy

The new funding will be shared by six Stanford research teams and an international group from the United States and Europe. The goal is to create an efficient, stable photo-electrochemical cell capable of converting sunlight into hydrogen and other renewable fuels at elevated temperatures of 500°C to 700°C.
